Abstract: Søderberg selfbaking electrodes are used to conduct electric current into the electric reduction furnace. Two-dimensional computer models for the computation of temperatures, electric currents and thermal stresses have been used for a long time in the R&D effort to improve the construction and operation of the electrode.
