Abstract: The motion of the mass in a continuous digester can be described by the Navier-Stokes equations together with mass balances for the chip plug and the free liquor. The component balances for the wood and liquor materials fulfil the mass balances. These equations are solved to help understanding the dynamics connected to motion and chemical reactions taking place in the digester. Simulated profiles are shown in this paper.
